ASTRONOMY CLUB TAKES STUNNING PHOTOS OF THE ORION NEBULA AND THE MOON

On Sunday evening, about five members of the Astronomy Club led by president of the club Evan Iervolino and their moderator Richard Greco were on the root top observatory to try out their new Infinity ATIK Camera and associated software to take photographs of the Moon and the Orion Nebula. The night was clear at 9:00 pm, and observations continued until midnight. The photographs show incredible dimension of these celestial objects. The club will continue to experiment with this still- and video-camera as well as with its Horizon monochromatic still-image camera, which features the ability to live-stream as well. The club will also take the images of the moon and map the craters and mountains using photos and maps from NASA that are currently on loan to Montfort from The Hudson River Museum. More to come.
