rev. leo camurati

Fr. Leo Camurati, O.P. teaches physics, trigonometry, and history at The Montfort Academy in addition to his work as Chaplain. Fr. Leo entered the Dominican Order in 2011, and was ordained in 2018. Since ordination, he served in Parochial Ministry in New Haven, Connecticut and Pleasantville, New York.

Before his seminary studies, Fr. Leo received a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from the Cooper Union, and worked as an Engineer for three years in New York. In that time he worked in building design and commissioning, and administered ASME’s Committee on Conformity Assessment for Nuclear Manufacturers.

While this is his first formal role as a teacher, Fr. Leo has previous instructional experience as a tutor, a scout camp Ecology Director, and as a coach for his High School’s Oceanography Quiz Bowl Team.

Father Leo has assisted various communities in the New York area that promote traditional liturgical life and Catholic Devotions. This has been a passion of his before, during, and after his formation as a Dominican Friar. He is honored to continue being involved in such vital work.

Writing about the prospect of teaching at Montfort, Fr. Leo writes: “I have benefited immensely from the mentorship and instruction of so many both inside and outside of the classroom. The prospect of playing that role for others is a privilege, and honor, and a challenge that invites the best we have to offer.”
