MONTFORT KNIGHT PHOTOGRAPHS COMET NEOWISE

Summer 2020 was noteworthy in Astronomy for many reasons. The summer began with a penumbral eclipse of the moon. Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto were visible all summer in the early evening along the night sky’s ecliptic plane that most planets follow. And, a once-in-6000 year visitor named Comet Neowise visited our Solar System. One of our Montfort Knights, Evan Iervolino, President of The Montfort Academy photographed Comet Neowise and captured its lengthly tail. Evan also took hundreds of pictures of Jupiter and used a special software to stack them into one composite image. The Great Red Spot and the bands of Jupiter’s complex cloud system are clearly visible. Enjoy these photgraphs.
