[My son] is taking a philosophy class [in college] and no one wanted to discuss something they were asked to read. He said he and maybe one or two other students raised their hands but everyone else looked scared. The teacher ended the class early. He said he felt comfortable talking about the topic because of all the times they discussed things in his classes at Montfort! It was music to my ears...he finally understood why the Socratic method of teaching is so important. Thank you Montfort!!

When you majored in Philosophy in college, and your 16 year old son debates you about St. Anselm’s Ontological Argument for the existence of God over a nice Friday evening dinner out, you know you’ve chosen wisely. Thank you, The Montfort Academy !

—Mother of a Knight of the Class of 2023 on April 8, 2022

I would also like to take this as an opportunity to express my gratitude to you and to Montfort. After having completed my first year at college, I have developed a much deeper appreciation for my education in high school. While I did not quite realize it at the time, I see now that we study the great authors not merely because they serve as some of the greatest examples of the heights of man’s creativity, nor merely because of the enduring impact they have on Western Civilization, but because it is through them that we are able to discover Truth itself. I have been  intellectually challenged at [college] and attribute any success I may  have in large part to what I learned at Montfort… I know I never would have chosen this path without my time at Montfort, which helped to initiate my intellectual curiosity, cultivate an appreciation for truth, and foster the roots of my faith.

—Montfort Alumna of the Class of 2020, June 2021

My daughter is a member of the Class of 2021. She has been molded into an incredible woman under this institution’s watch. They have enriched her heart, mind and soul over the past four years. This school did their best to lead the way for her to have a successful life. They have provided the tools that she will need.

—Father of a Member of the Class of 2021, June 2021

The Montfort Academy planted all the right seeds - what a harvest!!! We will always grateful. Mr. Greco’s opening words in his speech on welcome night was - ‘God sent you here’. I believed those words then and I believe them so much more now. Montfort may just be the best 4 years of [my daughter’s] life.

— Mother of a Member of the Class of 2018 writing to tell us that her daughter just led a major tourism presentation on behalf of her college to the State of Connecticut, April 2021

My daughter will be attending Franciscan U. and we feel so blessed to be part of a beautiful Catholic university where the Holy Spirit is truly present, and I feel, is a great continuation of the blessed Montfort Academy. My only regret is that [we came to Montfort so late that ] my oldest daughter was not able to join the Knights. My daughter, however, will have the honor, however, of continuing the Faith and classic academics that Montfort has paved her way for. April 2021

How ironic it is that all of these computer “technology" based schools were ill prepared to transition to technology based educating. I don’t know what’s worst leaving the educating to technology or basing a child's mental growth and intelligence on tests. Schools have fallen discouragingly deep into teaching children to test yet not to retain not realizing the huge disservice it presents for them in life. Who could imagine an intimate faith based House of Education  could academically victor all others.

We love the Montfort community and appreciate the education being provided. Montfort is unique and stands apart and we are proud and blessed to be taking part.

—Mother of a Member of the Class of 2023

I really want to thank you for making of The Montfort Academy the second home for my daughter. You guys treat the students as your family. What else I can ask for. Thanks 🙏🏻.

—Father of a Member of the Class of 2021

[My husband and I] were talking about how we believe that Montfort really prepared our son for college. And I think he is starting to realize that.  All that hard work.

—Mother of Graduate of Class of 2019

My daughter always speaks about Mr. Greco and of course the other teachers on how she is so prepared for college. Mr. Greco of course topped it with his thesis paper.

—Mother of Graduate of Class of 2019

I would just like to say thank you for allowing me to have my high school years at the Montfort Academy. So far, my first week was very exciting. Also, I have had a lot of fun in each of the clubs that I signed up for. For example, in today's astronomy meeting, I learned about the constant speed of light, and learned some history behind super earths, as well.

—Student of the Class of 2023

I loved the first week at Montfort, and I am very excited for many more! Each day, I am always excited to go to school, something that I am not very used to. All of my classes are so interesting and engaging , and the teachers make the classes hilarious. One of the things I have enjoyed the most at Montfort, is meeting my fellow classmates. I love all my classmates, they are all so kind and caring, and everyday I get excited to see them and make more memories with them!

—Student of the Class of 2023

Thank you for such a wonderful first day of school! The first sentence that [our daughter] spoke to us in the car . . . “This was the first, real good school day I had in a long time!” It was music to our ears. What was even more beautiful was how she said it with such spontaneity, ease, and confidence coupled with a HUGE SMILE! . . . Thank YOU!

—Parents of a Member of the Class of 2023

Amazing school, staff and learning environment.

—Father of Graduate of Class of 2019

We just got back from a trip to Italy. It was spectacular and full of so many blessings. My daughter really enjoyed the art, too, thanks to art history class at Montfort.

—Mother of a Member of the Class of 2022

Thank you - Your efforts and dedication never go unnoticed.

—Mother of a Member of the Class of 2022

Many thanks for the wonderful environment you help create everyday for [my daughter] and the Montfort students.

—Mother of a Member of the Class of 2022

[My daughter] was accepted in all three schools with scholarships also (one with full scholarship).  With much prayers and discernment, I have made a decision to register her with Montfort.

[She] loves Montfort from day one last summer while in the  Capstone Program.  I fell in love with Montfort when you came to [her elementary school] to speak about the school when [she] was in 4th grade, but as a parent I worried about the tuition fees.

After attending several open houses and acceptance dinners from different schools, none can compare to the WARMTH and welcoming atmosphere that we experienced from Montfort, and this gives me comfort that she will be in  a school that has the values that I tried to impart to her.

Thank you once again.

—Mother of a Member of the Class of 2023

Our History class is not a normal history class. I love how you teach it like a college course. By doing that, I get to truly see how our major themes connect across history. Our first quart main themes have been resilience, American exceptionalism, how one person can change history, and important learning from history is. I find all the connecting links extremely fascinating.

—Montfort Graduate, Class of 2019

What a great night watching these young men and women come together and celebrate

What a great way for them to grow up, dress up and let loose after a few months of working hard and diligently

[My daughter] is thrilled with Montfort Academy and all it offers, she enjoys the academic challenge and being surrounded by like minded fellowship/friends

I am looking forward to the next three!!!

A special thanks to you and the Montfort family for providing a nourishing and uplifting environment for our children to learn and grow. My daughter is growing very nicely at Montfort and that is in no small part to the community you’ve built on strong Catholic values and tradition.  The success of every Montfort student is a testament to the vision and work of the Montfort community and it’s commitment to build strong Christian men and women.  I’m pleased with this great news but infinitely more pleased with our being a part of the Montfort family.

—Father of a Member of the Class of 2021

There is no other high school in the area that can teach Catholic values and maintain academic greatness like Montfort does.

IT WAS THRILLING!

—Student of the Class of 2022

. . . By the way, my daughter came home yesterday simply thrilled and exhilarated with Montfort!!  Thank you and happy 2nd day!

The Montfort Academy is proof that a school is better the more identifiably Catholic it is. You are doing something creative and daring, restoring the noble idea of Catholic education. Montfort, you’re the talk of the town. Boy, you got a great thing going here.

— His Eminence Timothy Cardinal Dolan

(March 2017, on the occasion of his visit to The Montfort Academy)

It was a true pleasure to meet your students yesterday.  I have never met such a mature, respectful group of Seniors before.  It is a credit to you and your staff to have developed a sense of self-confidence and moral values in these fine young men and women.  I was truly impressed when one group of students started to say Grace before the teacher announced it.  I also observed how no one started to eat their lunch until everyone at the table was served.

—Director of School and Community Programs and Outreach, The Generoso Pope Foundation

On behalf of my husband and myself, I write to express our deep appreciation to the administration, faculty, and staff of The Montfort Academy for nourishing our son in mind and spirit over these past 10 months.  Not only has our son excelled beyond our expectations academically, but he also has made significant strides in his social growth and maturity.  It has brought us extraordinary joy to met some of his new friends, talk to him about what he is learning and see him participate enthusiastically in after school activities, particularly "Swing Nights."  We are so glad our son chose to attend Montfort.  He knew your school was special from the moment he attended his first open house.  Now we know why.  We eagerly look forward to the next three years.

The Montfort Academy in Mt. Vernon, New York, is committed to its mission to enable its students to seek wisdom, practice virtue, and keep the faith. The Catholic culture of the school is evident throughout the building, and finds its deepest expression in the beautiful celebration of liturgy that is imbued with a solemn yet joyful worship sensibility. The relatively small student body forms a sense of family and collegiality that is evident among the students as well as the faculty. The members of the school community – whether student or faculty member – seem well aware of the school’s mission and vision and were able to articulate it when asked. . . The school is first and foremost to be commended for its “unapologetically Catholic” stance. This adherence to Catholic teaching and culture begins with school’s founder, Richard Greco, and continues with its headmaster, Col. David Petriello. Their strong leadership and example is evident in the commitment of the teachers to this mission and the consistency with which the students seem to understand it. Read More

I wish I could so much more for Montfort.  I know I have said it many times before, the past three years that our daughter has spent at Montfort have been truly AMAZING.  We are so sad that it is coming to an end.  Please consider us always a part of the Montfort family.

—Parent of a Graduate of the Class of 2018

I want to specifically thank Mr. Greco for having an open door policy for students in need.  Mr. Greco took the time to have a one-on-one conversation with our son following the death of a close family member.  Our son never had this type of support in any of his previous schools.  We are so glad our son is attending a school filled with love and compassion for their students.  He really is a different person this year.  He is immensely proud of being a Montfort Academy student.  Now we know why.

—Parent of a Graduate of the Class of 2018

I just had a call from Mr. Petrillo about my twin boys.  It warms my heard that he would take the time out of his busy schedule to talk to me about my son's application. For Mr. Petrillo to take the time to make that phone call says it all.  I love this school and all it represents.  It reminds me of the schools in Ireland--very personable and welcoming and proves my child is not just a number but a person. That is why I chose this school for my other children.  It is Westchester's hidden little gem, and I constantly cannot say enough good things about the teachers and staff.

—Family with two Montfort Graduates, Class of 2020

Our son had an amazing time.  You gave him an experience of a lifetime. (Returning from one month abroad in Spain)

—Parent of a Member of the Class of 2021

We enjoyed both the dinner and the show and were really impressed by the quality of the production.  It was so lovely to see so many of the kids involved in this event.  It is yet another testament to Montfort.

—Parent of a Graduate of the Class of 2018, following the school's Dinner Theater production of Guy & Dolls

I would like to thank you, Mrs. Petrillo, the Greco's, board and faculty of Montfort for all that you do to make Montfort the school it is.  There is no other school like Montfort.
