Lauren Calman is The Montfort Academy's lead Guidance Counselor. Miss Calman attended the University of Rhode Island for her undergraduate studies earning a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a minor in Human Development and Family Studies in 2014. She subsequently attended the College of New Rochelle and graduated in May of 2016 with a Master's degree in Guidance and Counseling.
Miss Calman is also the Director of an After School for Kids Program in her town’s local elementary school, and she is the Assistant Director of a Day Camp in Rye Brook. While earning her Master's degree, she was a substitute teacher in two school districts. When not working, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, cooking, watching/playing sports and reading.
In her own words, "I decided to pursue a career in school counseling for a number of reasons. I have always known that I wanted to work in the educational field. A focus in the field of counseling, I believe, affords me the greatest opportunity to work closely with students and have a long term impact on their present and future choices. I have an extreme passion to work with students in an educational setting helping them work through academic, college, and career challenges they face as they map out their future plans, and the varied social/emotional issues that accompany the teenage years. Helping others has always been something I truly enjoy doing and I do not stop until I can find a solution. I find it extremely important to create a relationship with every student because each student has his or her own challenges and issues. Building a foundation of trust and confidence with each student in their freshman year in high school is critical in meeting their needs and demands as they move forward in school and their futures."
