Gala 2010
Dear Parents and friends,

It's again time for us to prepare for our annual gala and, as in past years, its success depends so much on your help and support. More than ever, I am committed to the success of our little gem of a school. As I see my own children flourish in the environment established by our dedicated board members, administrators, and teachers, I am filled with gratitude to them and to our Lord for this blessing. Like you, I am ready to do whatever it takes to help secure that blessing for my own children and for others; and, as with all things Montfortian, I know that when we band together to accomplish a goal, we always triumph.

The Montfort Academy exists because we live in a country where we are free to be creative and to take the initiative as citizens to build something for ourselves and our communities. In light of our joy and appreciation of that gift, at this year's gala we will Celebrate Free Enterprise and the Creative Spirit. As an example of that freedom and creativity, we are honoring the Knights of Columbus and three individuals who have given a lifetime of service to their communities through that organization - Neil Fusco, Richard Janniello, and Dan Marengo. In addition, we are privileged to have as our special guest another member of the Knights of Columbus, Major League Baseball coach Rich Donnelly. Coach Donnelly has been in Major League Baseball for 25 seasons, most recently with the Los Angeles Dodgers. He also coached the Florida Marlins in their World Championship drive in 1998. Coach Donnelly is also a member of Champions of Faith. We'll be sending out more information about all our honorees in the near future.

Parents and friends, this is your call to arms. There are several ways you an help to make this year's gala a success. Please help in as many ways as you possibly can.

  • Buy tickets and attend the gala. We hope that each family will buy two tickets and we're offering those at a reduced price for Montfort and Knights of Columbus families only. Through March 5th, two tickets per family are reduced to $150 each, or $1500 for a table of ten.

  • Sell tickets to others. We need individual tickets sales and, if possible, people who are willing to buy full tables of ten. (Please tell us if you know of anyone who might be interested who you'd prefer for us to contact directly.)

  • Buy a journal ad and sell five more to others. Your dentist, orthodontist, eye doctor, music teacher, hair stylist, and tae kwon do gym are usually very willing to support these kinds of events. It is simple for them to take a business card ad for $125.

  • Solicit auction items for our silent auction. Proprietors of your local businesses are also usually very happy to help with a donation. Please try to obtain three items for our auction.

  • Finally, please volunteer to support any one of our gala chairpersons:

Deborah Catallano Sansone, Gala Co-Chair (dsansone@optonline.net)
              Janelee Leggio Milo, Journal (janeleeleggio@aol.com)
              Kelly Primavera, Auction (cksm214@verizon.net)
              Carmen Kearney, Decorating (carmen.kearney@gmail.com)

In order to keep our jewel of a high school operating and financially accessible to any family that may choose it for their son or daughter, we run the annual gala and it must raise enough money to keep us from operating at a deficit. Our first two galas accomplished that, thanks to your support. This year, we need that support more than ever. I know you will not let us down.

I thank you for the ongoing sacrifices you make to give your sons and daugheters the outstanding education that Montfort provides, and again, in advance, for your efforts in support of this wonderful event. I look forward to working with you over the next two months and to seeing you at Maestro's on April 18th.

Sincerely,

David Petrillo, Trustee
Co-Chair, 2010 Gala
